Let’s break the seal on 2017, shall we?
Garnet Valley freshman midfielder Matt Moore became the first Delco 2017 to offer a public verbal when he committed to national power Virginia.
“The academics are ridiculous,” Moore said of Virginia. “I also knew I wanted a big school and a big lacrosse school, but I just think it’s the best fit for me.”
Moore chose the Cavaliers over North Carolina, Maryland and Johns Hopkins, which gives you an idea as to how highly sought-after he was. He’ll will have to wait a few months for his first varsity game in a Jaguars uniform, but he’s been touted by several people in the lacrosse community as a potential star and will likely end up as one of the nation’s top 2017 recruits.
“I didn’t feel pressured one bit,” Moore said of his early verbal. “I just went through it. I didn’t have a dream school or anything and the coaches said, ‘you can wait until your senior year,’ but it was a good fit. (The early recruiting) can be nerve-wracking and it is early for some kids, but I kind of like it.”
